Although 87 percent of King County residents report that
they recycle, more than half of what ends up in the regional
landfill is still recyclable. C+C is leading the effort
to change this through King County’s “Recycle
More. It’s Easy to Do” campaign. To kick-off
the effort, C+C executed a media event with King County “Garbologist” Tom
Watson who sorted garbage at a Redmond home, as well as
in-studio and at two TV stations.
From there, C+C went grassroots to spread the message.
To creatively remind residents to recycle, C+C produced
Project Driveway, a traveling exhibit of twenty-five
96-gallon recycling carts artistically made-over by local
organizations including Starbucks, the Seahawks and Special
Olympics. To reach commercial businesses, C+C created
King County’s “Best Workplaces for Recycling” list
awarding 21 organizations for their innovative recycling
efforts. To encourage residents to begin recycling food
scraps in yard waste carts, the C+C team has created
radio promotions, formed retail partnerships, arranged
for one-on-one outreach at local farmers’ markets
and produced three award-wining television advertisements.
