King County’s EcoConsumer program provides education,
tools and resources to help consumers balance consumption
with conservation, including tips for reducing waste, buying
green, avoiding toxics and upgrading the home to be more
healthy and efficient. C+C helps EcoConsumer Tom Watson
spread the word about how to be a more eco-conscious citizen,
negotiating ongoing media appearances to discuss environmentally-friendly
consumer tips and helping him further establish himself
as the region’s top green expert. In 2008, C+C also
worked with the program to develop and launch the Eco-Cool
Remodel Tool, an online interactive tool
that allows consumers to click around a virtual house and
get tips on how to retrofit and remodel their home in a
more environmentally conscious way. In addition to providing
overall project management, C+C was also involved in drafting
and editing copy, and researching consumer resources. C+C
is currently working on plans for promoting the tool to
consumers in 2009.
